Why The Bahamas in December?
The Bahamas is the perfect getaway from the cold winter month of December. This beautiful country located near the Equator is hot all year round. The lowest temperature would be around 69° F. The sunny weather allows for outdoor activities and cultural celebrations during this time of year.
Perfect Weather
"Sun, Sand, and, Sea" is a phrase you would see while planning your trip to The Bahamas. Why? Well, that's what you'll experience when you go in December! For outgoers like myself, The Bahamas is the perfect place for me to do any outdoor activities. Except hiking! The Bahamas does not have mountains.
The sandy beaches along with the clear blue waters are perfect for you "beachgoers and boaters." The cool breeze and the bright sun serve as a perfect combination for a day by the sea. Grab a friend, a volleyball, and speakers and you will have yourself a good time. Your activties aren't limited to that, but I wanted to show you how easy it is to have fun in The Bahamas.
Local festivities
Being in The Bahamas during December is the perfect time to tune into one of the country's biggest, oldest, and, and most extravagant cultural traditions. Junkanoo. On the island of New Providence and Grand Bahama, Junkanoo is held on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) and New Year's. Bahamians would prepare all year to participate in Junkanoo with flattering costumes, dance routines, and, my favorite, the music line. If it's one festival you don't want to miss. It's Junkanoo!

December travel tips
If you got a lot of time off from your job or school for vacation then I highly reccomend travelling by cruise. Planes are fast and I think it would be best to enjoy a calm 24 hours on cruise to rest BEFORE and AFTER all of the fun you'll have in The Bahamas. My personal cruise picks are Margarita Ville at Sea and the Carnival Cruise. However, if you would like a cruise that is less fun and exciting try the Royal Caribbean.
Book in advance! Tickets will go up closer to the holiday season. You want to absolutely avoid purchasing your tickets after November 15th. As soon as you can, book.
I reccomend packing some warm and cold weather clothes. There's a chance you will be caught in a cold front. As a Bahamian who cannot handle the cold, I hate cold fronts! I would wear a million layers of clothes if I could.
